Yes. Most kayaks can be motorized with the right mounting system. Bixpy offers options for rudder, skeg, fin, pod, pedal drive, stern, Power Pole™, transom, and other mounting locations, making it possible to add an electric kayak motor to a wide variety of kayak designs.

For most kayaks, the compact and lightweight K-1 Motor is the ideal choice, with 30+ mounting options for different kayak designs. Larger kayaks with a suitable transom can also use the more powerful 3 HP equivalent N-3 Outboard Motor. Power Pole™-ready kayaks may also accommodate the N-3 using the Bixpy Power Pole-to-Transom Adapter Plate.

Not necessarily. Many Bixpy mounting adapters use existing mounting points already built into the kayak, allowing you to add a motor without permanent modifications. Other kayaks may require additional hardware or a DIY mounting solution depending on their design.

Speed depends on your kayak’s design, weight, load, battery, and water conditions. The K-1 Motor can propel most compatible kayaks at speeds of up to 5 mph, while the N-3 Outboard Motor can reach higher speeds on larger, compatible kayaks.

The K-1 Motor can run for up to 22 hours with Bixpy Power Packs, depending on the battery, speed, load, and conditions. The K-Power Kit also lets you power the K-1 with your own compatible 24V battery, giving you more flexibility in battery capacity and potential runtime. For larger kayaks, the N-3 Outboard Motor offers up to 20 hours of runtime with Bixpy battery options.
