Every Boat, Board, and Hull That Pairs With a Bixpy Motor
Bixpy LLCShare
One of the first questions people ask when they discover our products is whether their specific boat will work. It is a fair concern, and the answer is almost certainly yes. Our K-1 Outboard Kit is compatible with watercraft from dozens of leading manufacturers, and our WillFit Adapter system covers over a thousand specific models. Let us walk through what types of watercraft work with Bixpy motors so you can see exactly where your boat fits.
Kayaks Are Our Largest and Most Diverse Category
Kayaks are where Bixpy started, and they remain the heart of our product line. The range of compatible brands and models is extensive. We work with Hobie, Old Town, Jackson, Wilderness Systems, Perception, Bonafide, NuCanoe, Feelfree, Native Watercraft, Vibe, Crescent, Pelican, Brooklyn Kayak Company, Kaku, Viking, Malibu, Eddyline, 3 Waters, Akona, Riot, and many more.
That list covers sit-on-top kayaks, sit-inside kayaks, fishing kayaks, touring kayaks, recreational kayaks, pedal-drive kayaks, and even inflatable kayaks. The key to making it all work is our adapter system, which matches the right mounting solution to your hull design.
For sit-on-top and fishing kayaks from brands like Bonafide, NuCanoe, Jackson, and Vibe, our adapters typically mount directly to the scupper holes, rudder mounts, or gear tracks already built into the hull. No drilling, no permanent modifications, and no voiding your warranty. The motor sits below the waterline at the stern, right where it needs to be for efficient thrust and minimal drag when it is not running.
Hobie kayaks deserve a special mention because they are such a popular platform. We offer specific adapter solutions for Hobie models including the Pro Angler, and we have both Mirage pedal drive adapters and low-profile transom options depending on your hull configuration. You can check out our setup guides for Hobie installations on our YouTube channel (youtube.com/@Bixpy) to see exactly how it comes together.
For pedal-drive kayaks from Old Town, Native Watercraft, and others, our adapters integrate with existing drive wells and mounting points. The beauty of this approach is that you can run your pedal drive and your Bixpy motor on the same kayak, using whichever propulsion method suits the moment.
Sit-inside kayaks typically use a transom-style or rudder-mount adapter. And inflatable kayaks from brands like Oru and Advanced Elements work beautifully with our fin-box adapters that slot into the existing fin mounting system on the bottom of the boat.
Stand-Up Paddleboards
SUPs are the second most popular platform for our motors. We are compatible with paddleboards from Gili, iRocker, Isle, Bote, Bluefin, Atoll, and many others, including both rigid boards and inflatables.
Our SUP adapter uses the standard fin box that comes on virtually every paddleboard on the market. You remove the stock fin, slide in our adapter, and tighten the thumbscrew. The motor hangs below the board and produces forward thrust with minimal impact on stability or handling. Most riders report that they barely notice the motor when it is not running, which is exactly the goal.
For paddleboards that do not have a standard fin box, we also offer solutions. Our support center at bixpy.com has a dedicated guide for powering SUPs and other personal watercraft that lack a traditional fin-box mounting point.
Canoes
Canoes are one of the most underserved categories in the electric motor market, and we are proud to be changing that. Our canoe adapters clamp to the gunwale or attach to the stern, positioning the motor at the back of the boat where it can push the hull efficiently. Because our motor weighs so little, it does not throw off the canoe's trim or make it stern-heavy, which is a common problem with heavier electric motors.
The clamp system is adjustable, so it accommodates a wide range of canoe designs from lightweight composite racing hulls to heavy-duty tripping canoes. You still get the glide and responsiveness that make canoeing special, plus a power assist that handles the headwinds and long flatwater crossings.
Dinghies, Tenders, and Inflatables
If you own a sailboat and use a dinghy or tender to get to shore, our motors are a natural fit. Small inflatable dinghies, rigid-hull inflatables, and lightweight aluminum tenders all work with our transom adapters. The motor mounts on the back of the boat just like a small outboard would, but without the weight, noise, or fuel hassles.
We also work with inflatable boat brands like Sea Eagle, Kokopelli, and Aquaglide, among others. The ultralight and packable nature of our motors makes them the perfect companion for inflatable watercraft because adding a thirty-pound trolling motor to a boat you chose for its portability defeats the entire purpose. Our motor and battery together weigh a fraction of that, so you keep the packability that attracted you to an inflatable in the first place.
Fishing Boats and Jon Boats
Smaller fishing boats and jon boats in the twelve-to-fourteen-foot range can work with our motors as an auxiliary trolling setup or backup propulsion source. Our motors are not designed to replace the primary outboard on a loaded fishing boat, but they perform well as a quiet, clean trolling option that does not spook fish. The jet drive is particularly advantageous in the shallow, weedy water where many of these boats operate.
Sailboats and Sailing Dinghies
Small sailboats and sailing dinghies are a growing segment of our customer base. A Bixpy motor mounted on the transom or rudder gives a sailor auxiliary power for getting in and out of harbors, maneuvering in tight spaces, and handling those dead-calm days when the wind disappears entirely. Several of our customers have replaced gas kickers on boats under sixteen feet and reported that the Bixpy handles everything they need.
This is actually how our whole story started. Our founder was stuck in a sailboat with no wind. So it is fitting that sailboat owners continue to be an important part of the Bixpy family.
Float Tubes and Personal Fishing Craft
Float tube anglers are a dedicated bunch, and our motors give them a meaningful upgrade over kicking with fins all day. A Bixpy motor on a float tube lets you cover more water, hold position in light current, and get back to shore when your legs are tired. The compact size of our system is a perfect match for the minimalist nature of float tube fishing.
Packrafts and Ultralight Boats
Packrafters headed into backcountry lakes and remote rivers love our motors because they can carry the entire propulsion system in a pack alongside their boat. Brands like Kokopelli make inflatable packrafts that pair beautifully with our adapters, and the combined weight is still manageable for a day of hiking to the put-in point. It opens up exploration options that would be impractical with paddle power alone.
How to Find Your Specific Boat
With over a thousand compatible models, listing every single one here would be impossible. That is why we built our YMM (Year, Make, Model) compatibility tool at bixpy.com. Just select your watercraft's manufacturer and model, and it will tell you exactly which adapter you need. Our support center also offers detailed installation guides, video walkthroughs, and direct access to our team if you need help figuring out the best setup.
When exploring what types of watercraft work with Bixpy motors, the common thread is our modular adapter system. The motor itself is universal. You buy one motor and one battery, then add adapters for each type of watercraft you want to use it with. Paddle your Hobie on Saturday, take the iRocker out on Sunday, and use the dinghy for a harbor run on Monday, all with the same motor. Just swap the adapter and go.
That modularity is something we are really proud of because it means your investment grows with your interests instead of locking you into a single boat.
